The week prior gave us some miserable weather and Lift, Clean & Place had to be played due to the muddy conditions.
The course was in excellent condition even though the fairways couldn’t be mowed during the week. Many thanks to the volunteers for their efforts.
The greens maintained their nice surface and were even getting a bit quick and scary (by Innisfail standards anyway) on Sunday afternoon.
All grades were keenly contested with 3-4 players in each grade in a position to win.
Saturday saw some showers around midday before it fined up and dried out. Â
Sunday was a beautiful day with no rain coming down at all.
A Grade. Trent Mann’s 5 shot lead at the start of the weekend was reduced to two by Andrew Rose coming into the last round. Â
Their A Grade rivalry continued with Rosie winning by a single shot to defend his A Grade Title (11 in 12 years).
Both players had a nervous last 3 holes after a birdie on the Par 5 15th gave Rosie the lead. Â
Ross Sheehy came third with Andrew Grieve coming fourth.
A Grade Nett winner was Ross Sheehy.
B Grade. Shane Trembath led by 7 shots over Paul Tattam coming into the last round.
Tremmie was a bit nervous but a fine tee shot into the strong wind on the 187 metre Par 3 16th, and the subsequent birdie got him over the line from Paul by just one shot.
It was Shane’s first championship win.
Third was Lance Masina who was just one shot ahead of Phil Otto.
B Grade Nett winner was Paul Tattam.
C Grade. Luke Peters has a 4 shot lead over David Swaine coming into the last round.
Luke built on his lead during the final round and even a very nervous 18 shots for the last two holes saw him come in with three to spare from David. The Leprechauns home game on Saturday night probably didn’t help Swaineys cause.
It was Luke’s first championship win.
Jeff McGrath was third with Shane Parmenter coming in fourth.
C Grade Nett winner was David Swaine.
